HP’s Abrupt About-Face Leaves Many Unanswered Questions

HP’s decision to abandon its webOS device business seems to have come so fast that the company doesn’t yet have answers to some of the most obvious questions.

Will recent device buyers have a refund option or are they stuck with a dead platform?

Will the Pre3 ever come to market? And what of that cute little Veer? (AT&T notes it continues to sell the Veer in its stores, at least for now.)

So, will there ever be HP printers and PCs with webOS? It no longer seems to be a big part of the strategy, but could there be some products already in the pipeline?

Just what is the future of webOS, if in fact it has one? HP seems to be insisting that the software could have some future, but even they seem to have little idea what that might be.

HP’s CEO said on Thursday the company is open to all possible business models, including licensing, but it is not clear just how many options it really has.

I had a chance to talk about some of these topics and more in a chat with public radio’s Marketplace.

The Red Sox needed a starter, and Erik Bedard was right there in front of them. The Saturday trade for Rich Harden shifted Bedard out of the picture, but the unsatisfactory review of Harden's medicals shifted Bedard back in, and the fact that the Red

Phone Hacking: John Yates facing 'questions' over Neil Wallis links

The New York Times reports: LONDON — Britain's top police official resigned on Sunday, the latest casualty of the phone-hacking scandal engulfing.

Two News of the World editors, Andy Coulson and Rebekah Brooks, have been arrested by Scotland Yard and charged with collusion in the phone hacking scandal. If Piers Morgan gets away with only appearing before Parliament to answer questions,

I first learned that the crystalline waters of my private life had been sullied when Scotland Yard telephoned me last month, saying they had found my 'details' among the files of the paper's investigator, Glenn Mulcaire, who had taken an interest in my

Wondering why Scotland Yard botched the investigation into the News Corp phone-hacking scandal so badly? Well, it wasn't because the police agency was comically inept—at least, not entirely because it was comically
