Credit Card Data Stolen During Software Sale

Symantec observed a site sensitive information theft (phishing) that uses a new trick by posing as a famous software company.

Trap being prepared by offering a software product with very cheap price. According to Symantec security firm, phishing sites are admitted carrying out the action frenzy promo such ‘summer offerings’, up to 80% discount. Many Internet users are attracted, potential victims are asked to enter some personal data as a reason for their billing account.

The information requested are name, address, phone number, email, until the credit card details. This cyber criminals will successfully steal their personal information for profit,” Symantec said. Symantec recommends a number of actions to Internet users in order to avoid the threat of phishing attacks:

Do not click on suspicious links in email messages.Avoid giving personal information when answering email.Never enter personal information on the page or pop-up screen (the page that appears suddenly).When entering personal or financial information, make sure the website is encrypted with SSL certificate by looking at the padlock, ‘https’, or a green address bar.
